This remote island, which once relied heavily on diesel generators now runs off 33.4% renewable energy, of the solar power that is produced around 300 000 litres of diesel can be saved annually. In 2012 we deployed the first solar power plant (67 kWp) as part of a pilot project on the island. Due to the success of the pilot project, we were requested to design and construct an additional solar PV plant for the island which consisted of a 500 kWp ground-mounted power plant using SolarWorld modules. We have deployed the largest solar PV farm on the island of St. Helena.
